Movie Review – “Little Evil” – Netflix

Did Netflix do it again with a fantastic horror-comedy film, or was it a bust?

Little Evil stars Evangeline Lilly and Adam Scott, and some other celebrity appearances.

Gary and Samantha are newlyweds. Samantha has a 6-year-old son, Lucas. Lucas may be the Antichrist.

After a disturbance at Lucas’s school that causes Gary to show up, not only finding out his stepson has been suspended, but that as a step-father, he must attend group therapy. Further along, Lucas begins to show some very odd behaviors, not helping with the whole “creepy, demonic child” vibe. Gary tries to avoid that his stepson may be the spawn of the Devil, as more and more unexplained events occur.

Gary and his coworker, Al, go on a search for someone who can get rid of the child in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. (Funny, right?)  When a solution has been discovered to finally get rid of Lucas, Gary has a change of heart.

What I do love about this film are the bit and pieces of classic horror films being reference, such as Poltergeist and The Shining. You’ll know it when you see it. The comedy in this are basically one-liners. The way the comedians feed off of their energy to come up with these jokes is just great!

Netflix released this film on September 1, 2017. The script was acquired in 2013, but filming did not begin until 2016 and Eli Craig directed.

What’s the ending? Well, you’d have to watch it, right?

The Basic Rating: 3/5
