SPLIT – Movie Review

M. Night Shyamalan has done is again with the crazy, creepy horror film!

Split follows three girls who get kidnapped by a diagnosed man with 23 personalities, who try to escape before the 24th personality emerges. James MccAvoy plays the man with split personalities, which I will say was phenomenal. The way he portrays the transition between one personality to another is great- the accents, demeanor, and the outfits.

Anya Taylor-Joy, who first stepped in the spotlight in 2014 plays Casey, an awkward high school girl, who turns to lessons her father had taught her in order to try to survive. Hayley Lu Richardson, takes on the role of Claire, a preppy high schooler, who you may have also seen in The Edge of Seventeen, and Jessica Sula plays the role of Claire’s best friend. All three of these women were fantastic in their roles for this film.

Now, the crazy part of this film, is that it is tied to Shyamalan’s film Unbreakable with Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson. How this fits together, I have no idea, but after further investigation, it looks like Shyamalan is creating this in to  trilogy. It will be exciting as to how the next film will bring it all together.
