Raving About “Stranger Things”

Whether you have an account on Netflix or not, you have heard about Stranger Things. Let’s be real.

Have any of you who have watched show felt like this was another Goonies movie? Because I did. I mean, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will– Goonies. The creature from the research facility– Alien. Christmas lights galore with Winona Ryder– Poltergeist. Eleven– E.T. (the powers she has and the boys hiding her).

Talk about nostalgic.

David Harbour has become an actor that I know has been around for a while, but I discovered when watching Black Mass starring Johnny Depp. I will say, having Harbour play the character of Hopper was a good choice. Not only does he play a funny cop from his quirks, but he has a great dramatic side that adds to the likeness of the character. I hope he comes back for the second season of Stranger Things- whether it is as Hopper or someone else. Winona Ryder was exceptional in her role as Joyce Byers.

One thing that gave me a chuckle was that no matter how much I disliked Steve on the show, when he finally got his act together to help out Jonathan and Nancy. I can’t get the scene with him and the baseball bat at the Byers’s house. I won’t go into detail as to why he was there and the moments leading up to that scene. Definitely a typical “bad boy” image from the 80s, I would assume.

The ending was fantastic for this season. The David and Goliath type finale was something I did not expect, and it did not disappoint! Of course, the finale not only answered some questions, but it raised a bunch of others.

I look forward to what they will come up with for next season!
